For tension control applications MODIMAZ ENGINEERS offer our Friction based Electromagnetic tension control brakes.
These brakes can be used for controlling the tension,
during winding/unwinding or spooling/unspooling type of applications.
The torque being applied by the brakes can be varied by varying the
voltage being applied to it.
When the weight of the coil or spool is more, the tension required is
less. The voltage being applied to the brake, can then be reduced to
reduce the tension. As the weight of the coil reduces, the voltage
being applied to the brake may be increased, to increase the torque
being applied by the brake and hence the tension.
These type of brakes can be used for any type of material from thin metal foil to paper, plastic film, wire spool, textile spools etc.
The Friction Based brakes feature a hardened armatures, encased in a
unique aluminium heatsink.
